December Daily 2016: Day 8
Yesterday was heavier, leaving me feeling simultaneously heartbroken, and incredibly proud of my brave, beautiful mother as she lives her way through the horrible beast that is cancer, even now. I thought a few times that the story of the day would either be a gloomy reflection of how I was feeling, or one of the stories I've got on my list that I'd love to tell this season (holiday memories), and and have been saving for busier/lighter days.
When the sunlight caught my attention and made me smile for the first time since waking, I knew THAT was my story - the simple, but bright moment that the sun came out and shone through our home.
I decided to keep it pretty basic with my love letter typed directly on the photo with a small heart for embellishment.
I had been looking for a way to include a design I made for the Calm & Bright kit with Feed Your Craft this year, but nothing was working (transparency, use as background paper, etc., but when I realized I had no number yet for the day, I decided to use the digital version of the paper to recolor it a bit and then cut it into a large, loose "8" shape. For the back, I used a photo I'd taken of the sun that didn't quite turn out as expected. you can't see a lot of it this way, but I can see enough, will remember that moment that I'm referencing in the letter.
To make the number easier to turn, I added one of the sticker tabs from one of Ali's previous kits, with the word "bright" being the perfect addition for the day's story.
